CMO Message

Community Health Centers of Pinellas’ number one priority is ensuring the health and wellbeing of our patients, our staff and our community. We have been monitoring the COVID -19, working closely with the Florida Dept. of Health to ensure we are adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and that we are sharing the most current, accurate information.

We continue to monitor the rapidly evolving information and will share all updates with staff, on social media, and our website.  Some key information as it relates to what we know today:
  • For most people, the immediate risk of being exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to be low
  • Travelers returning from affected international locations where community spread is occurring are at an elevated risk of exposure
If you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, or if you have come into close contact with someone known to have Coronavirus and/or traveled out side the country in the past 14 days, please call ahead before you come into the health center and inform us of these symptoms and risk factors. This will allow us to provide you with the best possible route of care when you arrive.

Coronavirus Statement

Over the past weeks, Community Health Centers of Pinellas (CHCP) has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely, both locally and nationally. As with many public health issues, this one is both highly complicated and rapidly evolving.

Responding quickly to daily informational updates from federal and state officials, Community Health Centers (CHCs) statewide have mobilized to care for their communities. CHCs have bonded together— to connect with decision makers, synthesize information, share resources, and advocate to get the needed resources as CHCs see an influx of patients who are concerned about the virus. CHCP has been in constant contact with the Department of Health, State Legislators, and other healthcare officials making sure that they understand our front-line concerns and lessons already learned as well as advocating for more resources. CHCP suspects more issues will arise in the days and weeks ahead, but CHCP will stay on top of them on your behalf.

Despite the presence of COVID-19 in our community, CHCP will continue to see patients. The safety and welfare of our employees, partners, and patients are the highest priority.

It’s important to practice proper hygeine by:
  • Regularly and thoroughly cleaning your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, or alcohol-based hand rub if soap isn’t readily available.
  • Staying home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance.
  • Practicing social distancing by maintaining at least 3 feet distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
